Dear friends of the renaissance transverse flute,

we are sure you all know what it is like.

You have ideas about what the renaissance flute could sound like in flute consort, in broken consort, you have tried all sorts of things out, but you have never really heard what other people have done, what other people have tried out. You don't know how other flute makers have solved those insoluble intonation problems. Etc.

We decided to try to do something about this by organizing a meeting for conoscenti of the renaissance flute, players and makers, to give ourselves the opportunity of exchanging ideas about this instrument with other people who have devotedv themselves to it.

Beware, however, as with everything else to do with this instrument, there is no money around, just a lot of enthusiasm. Specifically this means that there will be no fee for the renaissance flute days, but also no payment for any concert in which you may choose to participate. Lodging must be found by the participants themselves.

We propose that we get together for the weekend of 6 - 8 September 2002 in Basel, starting on Friday evening at 6 PM and going through to 6 PM on Sunday, meeting at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. During this time there will be

Please let us know by 6 August 2002 if you would like to join us for this event. We hope that this idea sounds as attractive to all of you as it does to us and that many of you will join us in Basel in September.
